Katharina's farewell party and a motorbike ride to Ideal Beach

This weekend we spent Sunday at Ideal Beach again. On Saturday we had the farewell party for Katharina, whose company has transferred her to Finland. I left a bit early, though, because I wanted to ride the motorbike to Mahabs the next morning. My first longer ride (about 50 km, about two hours) alone on the Bullet. To avoid the worst of the traffic, we set off at 8 in the morning: Eric and Kirsi on one bike and me on the other. The ride there went without any problems and we made good progress. It's real fun to ride the Bullet faster than 20 or 30 for once, instead of in city traffic…

Ideal Beach was as nice as ever. We met Stefan, Benjamin and Joram, who had come by bus, and the Shenoy Nagar girls, Viefka, Ieva and Kunes, who had arrived the day before for a girls' night (I still don't know exactly what they got up to there. We only got some strange text messages).

Unfortunately the way back from Ideal Beach didn't go quite as smoothly as the way there. Eric had often put a few cars between us, because I ride rather defensively and so probably not quite as fast. At some point I lost sight of him, and the traffic ahead of me was backing up. There had been a lorry accident, and the road was narrowed to one lane. Eric had apparently been going too fast and rear-ended a car. Luckily nobody was hurt; only Eric's bike suffered a bit. After a break to calm our nerves we carried on. But we had to stop very often because Eric's bike was acting up. Apart from the accident and all the breaks, though, we got home safely.
