A motorbike and celebrating into my birthday

I've bought a motorbike! Since there are no riding lessons for male beings here (you learn to ride a motorbike on the road), I decided to get myself a bike and practise for the test on it. I already have my learner's permit, and I can take the test at the end of June.

Ruben, a Dutch intern, is selling his motorbike, and I simply snapped it up. Next weekend I'll go to Pondicherry again and learn to ride on quiet roads there. If it goes well, I'll ride the bike back from Pondicherry to Chennai.

Besides buying the motorbike, I also wanted to celebrate into my birthday. A new club had just opened that day, the Escape. For Indian standards the venue is really nice: a big dance floor, comfy leather sofas and so on. The surprising part was that when Robert (a Chinese AIESEC member) and I tried to step onto the dance floor, where only three Japanese girls were dancing, security stopped us from dancing. Men are only allowed on the dance floor with female company. That was a bit of a culture shock, because at first we didn't understand at all what the problem was (the security staff's English wasn't great). Still, it was a nice evening. We were lucky to be able to stay until midnight (Indian clubs and pubs usually close very early) and celebrate into my birthday.
