Shopping at Spencer Mall and a potluck party

7 April 2007 was an eventful day. First, Eugen and I went to Spencer Mall. It's a huge Indian shopping centre with hundreds of shops on three floors. Some of them are quite exotic, some very Western, so a good mix. What stood out was that the power was out the whole time and apparently only a few emergency generators were running. That didn't stop the traders from trading, though, and more than once we were lured into a shop lit only by candlelight…

In the end I only bought a few shirts and a pair of trousers, plus the ingredients for a pasta salad for a potluck, a kind of global village where every nation prepares a dish from home. That's not so easy in India, because many of the ingredients of a classic pasta salad simply aren't available here. We still conjured up something nice that tasted almost like a German pasta salad. The potluck took place in the evening in an empty house that belongs to an AIESEC member. Here's a picture of me and my TN manager Nikkita:
