"Dancing into May"

, in India

Dancing into May, Indian style. In the evening I went with Iewa, Markus and Yuki to a restaurant Yuki knows, where the beer is supposed to be not so expensive. So this time we didn't sip our beer in a five-star hotel but only in a three-star one. As a result we were the only foreigners, and Iewa was the only woman in the packed bar. That wasn't a problem; the only annoying thing was that we didn't arrive until half past nine, and the bar (like pretty much every bar in Chennai) closed at 11. Still a very nice evening.

The next day Yuki, Iewa and I had the day off. Only Markus had to work. So the three of us bought tickets for the trip to Bangalore planned for next week. We actually wanted to visit Chennai's film studios afterwards, but buying the tickets took so long that we didn't make it to the studio in time. Yuki had a map of Chennai that supposedly showed an aquarium quite close to the station.

I couldn't read the map because it was entirely in Japanese. After about 20 minutes in a rickshaw and another 10 minutes talking to all sorts of locals, it turned out there is no aquarium at all. Well, no big deal, we were right near Marina Beach after all, so I could have another look at it in daylight. It's crazy how stark the contrast is between last weekend's beach and the beach in Chennai. This one is simply packed with people, and it's incredibly wide too (from the road to the water it takes a good 15 to 20 minutes on foot).

Afterwards we went to Spencer's, where I wanted to meet an Indian guy, but he never showed up…
